Frequently Asked Questions

Botox & Dysport

What is Botox and Dysport?

Botox and Dysport work by blocking the nerve impulses that tell your muscles to contract, temporarily relaxing muscles that cause wrinkles. This results in skin that has a smoother, more refreshed appearance.

How long does Botox and Dysport last?
Effects generally last 3-4 months. Genetics, lifestyle, and dosing all play a role in the longevity.

What are the side effects and downtime of Botox and Dysport?
Side effects are usually mild and can include pain, swelling, or bruising at the injection site. There is no downtime after injections. The treatment takes very little time, and after your appointment, you can return to your daily routine right away.

Dermal Filler

What is Dermal Filler?
Dermal fillers are gel-like substances that are injected beneath the skin to restore lost volume, smooth lines and soften creases, or enhance facial contours.

How long does Dermal Filler last?
Results typically last from 6-18 months. The type of filler, genetics, and life-style can play a role in the longevity of filler.

What are the side effects and downtime of Dermal Filler?
Mild swelling, bruising, redness, and skin sensitivity are the most typical side effects of dermal fillers. Typically, dermal fillers have little to no recovery time. After your appointment, you’re free to go back to work and resume your most of your daily activities right away. However, you need to be careful for 24-48 hours to allow the filler to settle.

How long does it take to see results?
The initial results are seen immediately. However, it takes 2-3 weeks for dermal fillers to settle and completely integrate into your skin.

PRF ezGEL Injections

What are PRF ezGEL injections?
Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) ezGEL is made from your own blood cells. Once harvested, it becomes a gel made up of a high concentration of platelets, fibrin, and stem cells (growth factors). This specific platelet mixture helps build tissue, as fibrin is known to stimulate stem cells which improve collagen and elastin in the skin. PRF is performed in a series of two treatments, spaced 6-8 weeks apart.

How long does it take to see results?

Immediate volumizing results typically lasts for 3 months and the volume will essentially dissipate. Similar to Sculptra and Radiesse, the gradual effects of PRF for skin tightening and collagen production may take up to 3 months to be noticed.

How long does it last?
The effects of PRF ezGEL can last up to 12 months. An additional treatment is recommended yearly to maintain results.

Microneedling

What is Microneedling?
Microneedling (aka collagen-induction therapy) is a skin rejuvenation treatment that penetrates the skin’s surface with tiny needles to create microinjuries, which spurs new collagen growth. Controlled injuries trigger a wound-healing response that kick-starts natural cellular regeneration.

What are the benefits of Microneedling?
Microneedling has a host of benefits, from improving sun damage to minimizing acne scars. More specifically, it can help:

  • smooth lines and wrinkles

  • even skin tone

  • minimize large pores

  • subtly firm the skin

  • fade stretch marks and scars, including acne scars

  • allow topically applied ingredients to absorb better

How long does it take to see results?
The full results of microneedling will take 4-6 weeks as new collagen is produced. 1-3 treatments spaced 6 weeks apart are recommended based on specific needs.

What are the side effects and downtime for Microneedling?
There are a few temporary side effects to be aware of with microneedling. The procedure causes short-term swelling, redness, and skin flaking, which can last for a few days.

Chemical Peels

What is a Chemical Peel?
If you’ve never had a chemical peel before, you may be wondering what this treatment even is. Simply speaking, chemical peels are exactly what their name suggests. They are facial treatments that use chemicals (commonly-used ingredients include salicylic acid, glycolic acid, or trichloroacetic acid) to peel layers of skin, revealing healthy, new skin below. There are many different types of chemical peels. Peels range from very light peels to improve uneven skin tone to a stronger chemical peel that goes deeper to address fine lines, wrinkles, and acne.

What are the side effects and downtime of a chemical peel?
Each person will react differently to skin treatments of all kinds, but for the most part, the side effects following chemical peels should be mild and healing should be completed within two weeks.

A common recovery timeline may look like:

  • First few hours – you’ll notice some redness, tingling, or burning

  • First few days – you may notice some dryness, irritation, and mild swelling

  • Two to Three days – your skin may look flaky or peel, and discolorations or imperfections may temporarily be more noticeable

  • Three to four days – you may breakout or notice skin looks tan or slightly darker than usual

  • Five to seven days – all side effects should start to subside, and your skin should begin to look and feel normal.
